Dr. David W. Nelson Eye Contact - West
Dr. David W. Nelson graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1985 and practices in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Business with a diversified Masters in Business Administration in 1991. Dr. Nelson served in 2001-02 as President of the American Optometric Association, a 33,000 member organization of optometrists, following his eight years of service on the Board of Trustees. He currently provides consulting and educational lectures across the United States for optometric colleagues in newly advancing areas of retinal assessment with advanced technology, age-related macular degeneration genetic testing, and nutrition supplement prescribing for improved eye health. He is also on Signet Armorlite’s Education Board, manufacturer of Kodak Brand Spectacle and Progressive Lenses.

Dr. Brenda Davis Eye Contact - West
After attaining a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Davis graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1985. She completed an additional residency in Ocular Disease and Surgery at the Omni Eye Services of Omaha, Nebraska. Having practiced for over 25 years, Dr. Davis takes great care in listening to her patients, assessing their individual needs and helping them achieve optimal vision and ocular health.

Dr. Valerie M. Vanden Boom
Eye Contact - West, Eye Contact - State Dr. Vanden Boom joined Eye Contact in 1991 and has been practicing continually at the west side office for the past twelve years. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in 1990 after receivng a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Southwest Missouri State University. She is a member of both the Wisconsin and American Optometric Associations. Specialty contact lenses and refractive surgery consulation as well as peri-operative care are among Dr. Vanden Boom's areas of interest. Dr. Vanden Boom enjoys running, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. David P. Nelson Eye Contact - East, Eye Contact - West, Eye Contact - State
Dr. David Paul Nelson graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1998. He has practiced at Eye Contact’s three Madison locations since graduating. Dr. Nelson practices full scope optometry and diagnoses, treats, and manages ocular diseases such as dry eyes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He also completes the more traditional scope of optometry by prescribing glasses and contact lens. Dr. Nelson is on TLC Laser Eye Centers' Clinical Advisory Board and has had lasik refractive surgery in 1998.
Prior to entering optometry, Dr. Nelson graduated from Iowa State University with an Industrial Engineering degree. He worked at the Quaker Oats Company as an industrial engineer, supervisor, and computer programer. Dr. Nelson enjoys triathlons, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children. He is a member of the Wisconsin and American Optometric Associations as well as Downtown Madison Rotary Club.
