Dr. David W. Nelson
Eye Contact - West
Dr. David W. Nelson has practiced in the Madison area since 1986, joining his wife at Eye Contact following twelve years at David Duehr Dean in Madison. In addition to his general eye practice at Davis Duehr Dean, Dr. Nelson served two years as the Director of Refractive Services for the Laser Vision Center when laser refractive surgery first became available in the United States. Dr. Nelson has been honored to serve in professional optometric associations throughout his career. He served as President of the Wisconsin Optometric Association in 1994. In July of 2002, Dr. Nelson completed his term as the eightieth president of the American Optometric Association, the first Wisconsin optometrist to serve as president in thirty years. The AOA was founded in 1898 and has 33,000 members in the United States.

Dr. Brenda Davis
Eye Contact - West
Dr. Brenda Davis founded Eye Contact in 1987 and has practiced in the same location for fourteen years. Dr. Davis is originally from Nashotah, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Dr. Davis attended optometry school at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and rotated through several referral clinics and military hospital installations. In optometry school, Dr. Davis taught general optics to students in the optometric technician and optician programs for two years. She completed a one year, post-graduate residency in ocular disease and surgery in Omaha, Nebraska prior to returning to Wisconsin. Dr. Davis is certified to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye. Dr. Davis resides in Middleton, Wisconsin with her husband, David, and son and daughter, Matthew and Katherine.

Dr. Valerie M. Vanden Boom Eye Contact - West, Eye Contact - State
Dr. Vanden Boom joined Eye Contact in 1991 and has been practicing continually at the west side office for the past twelve years. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in 1990 after receivng a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Southwest Missouri State University. She is a member of both the Wisconsin and American Optometric Associations. Specialty contact lenses and refractive surgery consulation as well as peri-operative care are among Dr. Vanden Boom's areas of interest. Dr. Vanden Boom enjoys running, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. David P. Nelson

Dr. Nelson has practiced with Eye Contact since July, 1998. He graduated from Ohio State University's College of Optometry in June 1998. During his schooling, Dr. Nelson rotated through several clinics including Primary Vision Care, Contact Lens, Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease, Pediatrics, Binocular Vision Therapy, and Low Vision. During the summer of 1997, he externed at the Columbus, Ohio VA Clinic. Prior to entering Optometry School, Dr. Nelson received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Iowa State University in December 1993. Dr. Nelson worked for 5 years for the Quaker Oats Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as an Industrial Engineer, Supervisor, and Computer Programmer. His change of career brought him to what he enjoys to do which is helping patients enhance their visual system and assist in the event of eye problems. Dr. Nelson is a member of both the Wisconsin and American Optometric Associations. In December 1999, Dr. Nelson had Lasik refractive surgery at TLC.
